I wanted to say some of this in the first newsletter of the new year, but I am going to be co-hosting the show every other week with Renee Johnston! Renee was already informally showing up as a guest every other Sunday before my holiday break, and we decided to make it an official guest co-host role over the holiday break. I hope to have more announcements regarding format changes soon but I don’t want to speak before everything if finalized and disappoint anyone. Wish me luck!
I have booked my second guest of 2024! On 10/14/2024 Renee and I will be joined by journalist, author, and disability advocate Justine Barron! Justine has been on my show before, speaking about the book about her reporting on the Baltimore PD’s killing of Freddie Gray. I am really looking forward to having her back on the show!
This time we will be talking about disability, long COVID, how both will always be labor issues under the current material conditions, and how becoming disabled doesn’t immediately erase ableism.
My Patreon has dropped below $50 a month for the first time in awhile. I normally try not to talk about money using the language of crisis, but staying below the $50 per month mark for two long will mean the end of my show. Half of that figure pays for my Streamyard account. The other half of that figure is the number I hope to grow to use for mutual aid and subscribe to to other creators in order to stay informed. If it continues to shrink, I won’t be able to pay for Streamyard anymore.
I am frequently failing to forcefully ask people to pay me what you think my labor is worth if you can afford to do so. I really want to take this moment to ask you to become a patron if you want to help me keep the show on the air!
If you haven’t seen it yet, the first show of 2024 is up on YouTube! I had a great time talking to blacklisted WV progressive Seth Sturm about the ongoing struggle between the West Virginia Democratic Party Indigenous Caucus and the state party over the WVDPIC’s right to exist.
Can't wait!
